PHP (Personal Home Page) is a server side computer language mainly used for the development of dynamic websites. PHP websites typically link into a database and create webpages from the data held. PHP has developed since its original development in 1995 by Rasmus Lerdorf and is now produced by The PHP Group. PHP is installed on more than 1 million servers and powers more than 20 million websites worldwide. Its popularity stems from the software is freely available, requiring no licence to use.
To learn PHP coding, I used PHP In A Nutshell by Paul Hudson which covered enough of the functions to get me to a reasonable level of ability within a short period of time.
