Football Site Now Live

A week or so of testing and I am happy to release my first website - its not perfect, but I find that it is better for me to tweak any fine tuning once the site has left my development environment and gone live on the server. I’ve chosen to use subdomains for a number of reasons:

1. It lets me work with a catchy domain name while allowing me the freedom to expand the site into other areas easily.

2. With each subdomain linking up to the main domain, I hope to be able to push the main site for more competitive keywords and phrases in search engines like Google.

Football Shirts Price Comparison - as you can see, it is not too far away from our original design although I have added a few tweaks as I have gone along (always easier when the designer and developer are one and the same!).

I have also started to optimise certain pages on the site for keywords and phrases for Search Engine Optimisation purposes. Why have I not waited to do this before going live? A few years ago I would have because once search engines had finally indexed your site (which took weeks to appear in the listings), it then took them months to return and re-index so any SEO changes would take forever to cascade down into the listings. Yahoo still take forever however Google are indexing new sites within days now and returning often as well so any future changes I make will take a few days or a week at most to appear live in Google. As Google account for approximately 90% of all UK searches, I’m not that bothered at this stage about any other search engine. I am a believer that, if you can gain a high rank in Google for your keywords and phrases then other search engines will pick you up quickly.
